As I said it hasn't stopped me tangling for long. I have had a bit of a thing for crescent moons lately. The first one I did wasn't so good, the beaded zander I used to outline the points were a bit too thick and clumpy.
The next one I liked much better, it was the first time I had used Hamadox in conjunction with other tangles.
Then came a really fun one, purely by accident. The Ixorus looked like a night cap, Tri-Bee turned out like a beard, and a rogue swirl from the freeform Huggins was just in the right position for a nose. With all that appearing I put an antidot in the space to look like the eye of the man in the moon.
I decided I ought to try one in a different colour to orange, so blue was the feature on this one.
Well orange goes with the new tangle pattern The Diva has asked us to try today. I had s feeling Gourdgeous might be the one she would choose as it has only recently been released from the mother ship. I am not sure I shall use it much. It is not abstract enough for me. As soon as you get something that looks like a real life object I struggle to get it to look right, I just don't have the artistic flair.
Nevertheless I had a try for the challenge and used Gourdgeous with Gumleaves, Pokeleaf and Tipple.

Edit:- After visiting your blogs I was embarrassed and determined to try harder. I thought maybe I had learned a few things, especially about the stem area. I practised it in my sketch book, then tried it in a string surrounded by other tangles. It didn't really 'click' with me but finally I thought I could improve on my first one and redid it in Halloween pumpkin colours.
Here is the original photo.
Live your crescent moon zia's 😊 I did a crescent moon dream catcher recently I loved it. I feel the same about gourdgeous I had a try at the weekend but now I'm going to have to do something with it 😉
ReplyDeletewow, beautiful artwork, very nice
ReplyDeleteThose crescent moon pieces are so creative. I especially like the one in blue. Your Gourdgeous turned out nicely too.
ReplyDeleteYour Gourdgeous is awesome! I struggle w/ that one!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Crescent Moon tiles, nice idea.
ReplyDeleteWe think the same about Gourdgeous ;-) You did a nice job though!
So glad you're seeing again--and what a stunning view of the shore! All of these tiles are so much fun. I love the string you used. Your man in the moon made me laugh out loud! And your orange gourdgeous is so warm and pretty. I love where your art is going :) Thanks for sharing your journey.
ReplyDeleteLove your work, all of it!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the moons!
ReplyDeleteOh man. I have tangles on the brain, apparently. When I read that you were using crescent moons lately, I immediately thought of the tangle and was looking for that in all your tiles----even the ones of crescent moons-----Duh,forehead slap]. I'm really glad your vision is getting sorted out. I'm feeling like mine is strained from tangling because I can get very micro --- like I did with the Diva's challenge. By the time I was finished, I wasn't seeing clearly at all. I keep meaning to get my eyes checked. So much for good intentions. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteMust be sooooo great to see properly again, I'm glad for you. I must have eye surgery for cataract (both eyes) in the near future, that's what the specialist said last month. But for now a new pair of spectacles did (most of) the job.
ReplyDeleteI love, love your crescent moons soooooo much. And about Gourdeous are our feelings the same.
Your moons are absolutely wonderful - I have a thing for the moon but never thought of doing it as a string - ingenious! Glad you're beginning to see better - and what a lovely photo you posted.
ReplyDeleteI really like your Gourdgeous - looks good with leaves and in orange. I think you have a very artistic approach and show lots of imagination. Axxx
Your crescent moons are beautiful. Such a lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteI must have missed what you had done to your eyes, but am glad to know that whatever it was, they are ok now. The moons are WONDERFUL.
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful pieces! Especially I like your beautiful moons. Very creative and lovely idea!
ReplyDeleteWowza!! I just want to say, I read your post a couple weeks ago and you explained how critical you were with your work and it not looking like others. (not your words exactly,...) but it has weighed on me since then. As I don't always get to leave comments on everyone's posts, because I tend to be a jabber mouth, and run out of time, anyways I just wanted to say that each of us is on our own journey and we do these challenges mainly to challenge ourselves. I bet if you looked at everyone's first challenge entries they wouldn't look like the ones that they do now. And now look at what you did here today on this post!! These are absolutely beautiful! And by the way, so many of your other posts have been beautiful too. I bet you have inspired so many people today with your crescent moons. What a sweet and lovely way to express your creativity!!! I always enjoy just how different our artwork is and how we build each other up and inspire one another. Thank you for your inspiration today and for reminding me to reflect on our journey in this wonderful tangle journey!! (((hugs))) Annette Carlo :0)
ReplyDeleteAll of them are very nice :)
ReplyDeleteI think your Gourdgeous are very lovely. The tangle didn't click so well with me. Wonderful to see your zia's - they are beautiful. I hope your eyesight continues to improve. Sending you healing thoughts.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I am glad to hear you are making improvement with your eyesight. That is the thing that I am deathly afraid of....losing my sight. Your moon series of ZIAs is absolutely gorgeous, and I laughed out loud at your Man in the Moon...it DOES look like the man in the moon. I like all of your Gourdgeous tiles, but I do believe I like the last one the best. Wonderful work on all of them!
ReplyDeleteAll such beautiful work! I can't believe you accomplished so much with compromised sight!
ReplyDeleteGlad your eyes are getting better, YT!! Good!!! All your first set of Divas are lovely - and I like the first one too!! My favorite is the blue because the way the color works so delicately. I think all your Gourdgeous are quite fine!! You have been busy and it is great to see them!! :)
